Planning a school visit
A trip away from school can be a wonderful experience for everyone. Your pupils can discover a new learning environment, meet interesting new people and enjoy a great science experience!
How to plan your group visit:
Our general teachers guide should answer most of your questions and should be read prior to your educational visit.
If you have not visited Satrosphere Science Centre before and would like a sneak preview before you bring your class, teachers are entitled to enjoy free familiarisation visits. Please contact our Education Team on 01224 640340 to arrange a time suitable for you. A member of our team will meet you to discuss our programmes and show you round the centre. You are also welcome to use this time to familiarise yourself with the exhibits before visiting.Our Education programme is constantly growing and we offer a number of new workshops and shows. Please see our workshops and shows page for more details. Our teacher guides give full details of activities, target age groups, special requirements and Curriculum for Excellence links. All workshops are priced from £3.50 per pupil, please contact our Education Team for further details. Adults are free at a ratio of 1:3 for Nursery - P3 and a ratio of 1:6 for P4 upwards. Additional teachers/helpers will be charged at £4.50.
To make a booking or discuss options, please contact our Education Team on 01224 640340. We are more than happy to advise you what would be best for your visit. Please also let us know of any particular access or differentiation requirements that we should be aware of.
On the Day
When you arrive at Satrosphere, a member of our team will meet you and greet the class. We have storage for coats and bags which you will be directed to on arrival. A member of the Education Team will then welcome the class and let you, and them know the timetable of activities for your visit. The visit will include your chosen workshop as well as time on the exhibition floor. Please note, this will not be a guided tour of the exhibits, it is time for free exploration, but staff will be on hand to answer any questions you or the pupils may have. Please also remember that you are welcome to arrange a free familiarisation visit to the centre before the class trip (see above).
